How to Provide Free Access to a User
Sometimes you will need or want to provide a user with free access to your site. You can do this by granting free access to the user feature in the Contacts
section of your Hype Dashboard.
Note: Users will need to be previously registered to your site on the front end or be created through a migration. Hype does not yet support importing individual emails directly through the dashboard, but it is something we are working on!
Navigate to the Contacts
section of your Hype Dashboard by clicking the Contacts
icon on the left side of the screen.

From this page, you can use the search function to look up the user, and then select the contact record for the user that you wish to grant free access. This action will open their user profile.
On this page, click the options menu (three dots) in the top right and click Grant free access.

Next, from the dropdown menu, choose the monetization and tier of the product you want to give that user free access to. Then select the start and end dates for the free access. Save the changes by clicking the Grant free access button on the bottom of the modal.

Changing previously free access status for a user:
Users cannot be granted free access if they are already associated to a product.
This includes if the user already has free access or a membership through a paid product. If you would like to change a user that has already been granted free access to another product, first remove their access status, and then re-add the user to the new product.
Managing Whitelisted Users in Mailchimp
If you are filtering users in Mailchimp by Membership status and want to make sure that users granted free access get the same benefits as paying members, the process is similar.
Users granted free access will have a "Membership" merge field value of "Individual Subscriber (Free Access)" so this can be added to any segmentation rules. The tier value will match whatever plan they were associated to when granted access.
