Granting Subscribers Free Access

How to Provide Free Access to a Subscriber

Please Note: A user already on a subscription plan cannot be given free access.

1. Navigate to the Contacts section of the Hype Dashboard by clicking the ”Contacts” icon on the left side of the screen.

2. From this page, select the user, or use the search function to look up the user in the contact records.

3. Select the contact record for the user being granted free access. This action will open the user profile.

4. Within the contact record, click the options menu (three dots) in the top right.

5. Click ”Grant Free Access”.

6. From the dropdown menu, choose the monetization and tier of the product.

7. Select the start and end dates for the free access.

8. Save the changes by clicking the ”Grant Free Access” button on the bottom of the modal.

Managing Whitelisted Users in Mailchimp

If filtering users in Mailchimp by Membership status, the process is similar.

Users granted free access will have a "Membership" merge field value of "Individual Subscriber (Free Access)" so this can be added to any segmentation rules. The tier value will match whatever plan the user is associated to when granted access.
